Students Have Choices for a Fine Arts Pathway

Visual Art

Led by chorus teacher Debbie Byrd, the HCHS choral program gives students the opportunity to participate in chorus classes, literary choral competition and Glee Club (show choir).
Art teacher Marcee Henson provides students with experiences in a wide variety of media. From drawing, painting, and printmaking, to clay handbuilding and throwing on the potter's wheel, many opportunities exist for students to expand their creative abilities in the HCHS visual art classes. Ceramics students consistently have work accepted into the annual juried Georgia High School Ceramic Art Exhibition.

Drama teacher Mark Stich has created a vital drama program at HCHS. In addition to drama classes, students participate in one-act competition and a full-scale Spring production.

Band director Troy Thompson leads the award-winning HCHS Marching Rebel Band, as well as the concert and symphonic bands. Band classes provide students with an opportunity to learn using hands-on processes.  They challenge students to improve individually and as a member of a group. Students have the opportunity to travel, learn using diverse methodology, use different parts of their brains for learning, and develop skills not used in traditional classrooms.
