Principal's Message

The mission of Haralson County Schools is to produce high-achieving students who will graduate and become productive and responsible citizens. Buchanan Elementary (BES) will accomplish this mission by setting goals in our school improvement plan and monitoring student progress throughout the school year while encouraging student social development. During the 2017-2018 school year, Buchanan Elementary plans to strive for continued improvement, celebrate our many successes and reinvigorate Rebel traditions as we embrace the ever-changing future.

We have accomplished many goals such as improved test scores, students reading on grade level, and a lower number of discipline referrals. We will continue to raise the bar. We are very proud of our faculty, staff and students for their hard work and consistent pursuit to achieve our goals.

We are very excited to introduce our one-to-one technology initiative this school-year for our 5th graders. BES along with the support of the district office understands the need to promote technology in order to prepare the students for the 21st century. Each of our 5th grade students have been issued a Chromebook and will be given the opportunity to utilize technology in the classroom on a daily basis. This will also support 100% of students testing online for Georgia Milestone. Our staff is participating in professional learning throughout the school year to provide more technologically advanced instruction. As a leader of this continued growth and principal of Buchanan Elementary School, I am proud to serve the students, faculty, and community. I am dedicated and determined to reach our goals, and value the input of our stakeholders. Contact the school for assistance or to learn more about our initiatives for this school year. Please know we have a TEAM of individuals who are vested in your student and are ready to assist you.

I encourage you to join us on our path to greater success. BES is making this the best year yet!!

Ethelyn Johnson, Principal of BES
