Principal's Message

Principal's Message

Welcome to Buchanan Primary School. My name is Pepper Moon, and I am the principal. I have been in education for 28 years, and my entire career has been in Haralson County. I was born and raised in Haralson County and went through the Buchanan schools and graduated from Haralson County High School. From there I entered the University of West Georgia (formerly known as West Georgia College) and graduated with my degree in Early Childhood Education. I started my teaching career in fourth grade at Buchanan Elementary School (formerly known as Buchanan Jr. High School). I was there for nine years. During that time, I went back to UWG to earn a Masters and Specialist degree and then went to Jacksonville State University for Leadership. I became the assistant principal at Tallapoosa Primary School and West Haralson Elementary School and served those two schools for three years. I became principal at Buchanan Primary School and was here for three years, and then I moved to the district office and worked in the Curriculum and Instruction department for five years. I returned to being a principal, two years at West Haralson Elementary School and for six years now back at Buchanan Primary School. BPS is home and family.

During these six years, BPS has accomplished many goals, such as implementing PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports) and being fully operational; having a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) teacher with every child having STEM classes; many of our teachers are Google certified, just to name a few.

We certainly have a lot to be proud of at BPS. I could not be more proud of our students, staff, parents, and community. I would like to challenge each of you to continue to embrace change and build upon our positive reputation as we strive to reach levels of excellence that some consider impossible.
