Today's School Media Center

Where do you go if you want to find a good book, an instructional video, a computer, or help with learning or teaching about any subject? The school media center, of course.

Today’s media center offers students and teachers all they need to foster learning and instill a lifelong interest in reading. Whether it is recent best-selling literature or the information needed to complete a classroom assignment, the media center has it.

Haliegh, a fifth-grade student, loves the media center because “You can find good new books to read.” Haliegh said that the media center is a welcoming place that gives her easy access to these books. She plans to visit often this school year while trying to reach her goal of earning the most Accelerated Reader points in her school.

Mrs. Holdbrooks, a third grade teacher, is appreciative of the supplemental materials she can pull from the media center to use in her classroom. “Our class is currently studying ancient Greece. I was able to get current books as well as a video to use with my Social Studies classes.”

Mrs. Johnson, a fourth grade teacher, depends on the media specialist as her go-to person for technology issues. “It does not matter if it is my Smart Board, a technology question, or an overhead project bulb, our media specialist, Mr. McWhorter is always able to keep my classroom going.”

Whether you are a teacher or a student, the media center has materials for you. Books, technology, videos, and know-how are available courtesy of your school media specialist in the media center. So come on down to your school media center and “Check It Out”!
