Haralson County School District

RESPECTFUL. RESPONSIBLE. RELIABLE.
WE ARE THE REBELS!

SRO

Hi, I’m Officer Charles Sharpe. I am a member of this community and have a vested interest in seeing it grow to the fullest potential Haralson County has to offer. I’ve been married for 25 years and have four children. Two of our children are recent graduates of Haralson County High. This year I have a 10th grader and an 8th grader at Haralson County Schools.

My history in law enforcement began 24 years ago at Hall County Sheriff’s Department. I worked in several departments during my 11½ years there. I was with the jail, patrol, warrants, and transports. Upon moving to Douglasville, I continued my career at Douglas County Sheriff’s Department. I was part of DCSO for 12 years. I spent the first year in various areas of the Sheriff’s Department such as the jail, a patrol deputy and transports. It was my second year with DCSO that I found my passion as a School Resource Officer. I worked as a SRO under the sheriff’s department for 9 years. However, Douglas County School Police Department created its own department and I followed where my heart led me so for 1½ years I continued on as an SRO with the school police. My total SRO time has been spent with 2+ years in a high school and 9+ years in a middle school.

I was excited when the Haralson County School Board started an independent school police department. Since I live in this community and have children in the schools here, I jumped at the chance to join this new and exciting team. I began my career with the Haralson County School Police Department at HCHS during the 2021-2022 school year. This is my first career position in a primary school as an SRO. I am excited to have the opportunity to have a positive impact on younger children and their interactions and views of police officers. It is my view that I can be one hand in the many that leads them to graduation and beyond! I look forward to working with the staff and students at BPS.
